Monitoring your blood pressure on your own is a good idea because then you and your doctor can compare measurements to find the causes of your high blood pressure. Some contributing factors include smoking, alcohol, stress, and weight. There are no symptoms of high blood pressure, so knowing your blood pressure measurements and checking it frequently if you have a history of high blood pressure is an excellent way to prevent heart disease and other complications.
